Annie and Phil’s destination wedding at Masseria Amastuola was exactly that: a two-day celebration of love, traditions, and unforgettable moments set among the ancient vineyards and olive groves of Puglia.
Destination Wedding at Masseria Amastuola: A Chinese Welcome Full of Tradition and Flavor
The wedding festivities began with a vibrant welcome dinner that paid homage to Annie’s Chinese heritage. The bride wore a traditional red Chinese wedding dress, known as a qipao or cheongsam, intricately embroidered with golden thread and symbols of good fortune. Red, in Chinese culture, symbolizes happiness, luck, and prosperity and Annie wore it with elegance and pride. Before the dinner, guests witnessed a series of traditional Chinese wedding rituals, starting with a playful and symbolic door game, where the groom and his groomsmen had to complete a set of fun and challenging tasks before being “allowed” to see the bride. The energy was full of laughter, support, and emotion.
Following this was the Chinese tea ceremony, one of the most intimate and meaningful wedding customs. Annie and Phil served tea to their parents and elder relatives, expressing their gratitude and respect. In return, they received blessings and red envelopes a gesture filled with symbolism, love, and emotional exchange between generations. The day continued with an Italian aperitivo in true Puglian style, featuring local delicacies, olive oil tastings, cheeses, and wines from the very land that surrounded the masseria. It was the perfect fusion of two worlds (East and West ) shared with joy among family and friends.

The second day was dedicated to the Western wedding ceremony, with all the elegance and simplicity of a European-style celebration. However, the Apulian weather had different plans: strong winds and the threat of rain pushed the couple to move the ceremony indoors. But Masseria Amastuola, with its breathtaking interiors and architectural beauty offered an equally stunning backdrop. The couple exchanged vows in a warmly lit space, surrounded by stone walls and refined details that made the atmosphere intimate and timeless.
Dinner followed in a beautifully styled indoor setting, where tables were adorned with natural elements and candles that matched the elegance of the venue. Despite the last-minute change, the mood remained joyful, emotional, and full of charm. Annie and Phil’s guests danced late into the night, celebrating not only the union of two people, but the blending of cultures, stories, and heartfelt traditions all set against the unforgettable backdrop of their destination wedding at Masseria Amastuola.
